Index Fill Factor Set

This warning has been raised because the index has its fill factor explicitly set

The server-wide default fill factor is configured via sys.configurations, and each index can optionally define its own fill factor.

If the index fill factor is set to a value different to the server default:

This may indicate that the fill factor has been incorrectly set to an explicit value when it should be using the server default.

If the index fill factor is explicitly set to the server default:

Although not an immediate problem in its own right, if the database default is changed and all indexes rebuilt, there may be the expectation that this index will take on the new fill factor. So consider whether this index truly does need its fill factor explicitly set, and more specifically, whether it needs it set to the same as the database default.

If the index fill factor is set to zero:

This means that the index inherits its fill factor from the server default in sys.configurations.

Suggested Action

Set the fill factor of all indexes to be zero (which means to use the server default) unless testing has proven the change to be effective.

Any suggestion from Aireforge should be thoroughly tested before being implemented into production.
