Tag management

A tag in Aireforge Studio is a name, a colour and, optionally, child tags: a hierarchy, not a set of key/value pairs. Tags are the only way to group servers in the Estate tab; there is no separate group or folder object.

Configuring tags

Open the Configure tags dialog from the add or amend server dialog, or from the ribbon's Tags button.

  1. Select Configure tags.
  2. Use Add to create a new tag.
  3. Select a tag and set its colour.
  4. Rename or delete a tag as needed.
  5. Drag tags to reorder or renest them.
  6. Select OK to save.

Applying tags

Tick tags for a server in the add or amend server dialog; a server can carry several at once. You can also drag a server onto a tag in the estate tree: Studio asks whether to move (replacing the server's existing tags) or add (keeping them and adding the new one). A server's right-click Tags submenu toggles individual tags the same way.

The estate tree

The tree lists All Database Servers, then untagged servers, then the tag hierarchy, so a server carrying more than one tag appears under each of them.
